The practice founder was homeschooled through 8th grade, and we support the parental right to make educational decisions for their children. We know the benefits and challenges of homeschooling and can help parents navigate through challenges when their child does not learn as expected.
Clients are encouraged to take advantage of our experience supporting homeschoolers in the areas of phonics, reading comprehension, spelling, written expression, and verbal expression of mathematical thinking, as well as verbal expression, listening comprehension, speech sounds, stuttering, vocal quality, selective mutism, autism, and social skills.
One thing that sets our practice apart is that we have a strong track record of instilling confidence in children who have previously struggled with learning skills like phonics and spelling. The children like coming here and develop strong working relationships with the therapists, which results in significantly better progress.
We have plenty of materials here, including high-interest books, and we are open to parents bringing in items from their homeschool curriculum.
Another advantage to coming here is that there does not need to be a school record nor a medical record of diagnosis of your child's issues, because we are outside both the school and medical insurance systems. If you would like a diagnosis to use for insurance reimbursement, of course we can provide that. However, we do not share our records with anyone except the child's parent(s), who are free to choose how, when, and what they share with others.
We offer the opportunity for children to work directly with a therapist on a regular basis, for children to participate in our readers' clubs and social groups, and for parents to consult with the therapist in addition to or instead of having us work with the child.
