Our Story

Annie Hasting entered the field of speech-language pathology with the goal of helping people communicate better. After a decade of working for schools, early intervention, and rehab centers, she founded her own business for clinical and educational services. But what to call it? Nothing boring, for sure. The name needed to mean something and be easily remembered.

Jellyfish are simple, yet complex, just like speech disorders. They do not possess a central nervous system, yet somehow they have senses and are able to control their movement. They accomplish the improbable every day, just like our clients.

Jellyfish are beautiful, and blue jellyfish are the most beautiful of all. They keep Annie in awe of the wonders of the earth.

Besides, "blue jellyfish" is just fun to say. Blue jellyfish. Blue
jellyfish.

About Annie

Annie Hasting continues to maintain national ASHA certification but currently works outside the field of speech-language pathology. Annie's greatest joy is to help others, and helping children and families communicate better has made her life more meaningful. However, many years doing the same thing, as well as some health disruptions, invited her to embark on a new path. Change can be energizing, and Annie is excited to use her skill set in new ways.

In her years as a speech-language pathologist, Annie developed specialties in a few areas, and neurodivergence became a particular love. Neurodivergence affects all areas of life at all ages. Working with neurodivergent children meant making rewarding connections with their family members, but as a speech-language pathologist, Annie was limited in what she could do, how much of a difference she could make. Outside of that realm, she is now free to help parents with the everyday challenges that may not even be related to communication, as well as with the acceptance and understanding of neurodivergence in the family. Annie also works with neurodivergent teens on skills such as self empowerment and building relationships, including friendships. Annie's skills at neurodivergence navigation come partly from her many years as a therapist but more from being a person with ADHD herself and from having a family full of autistic individuals. Some people just have a feel for neurodiversity, and Annie is one of those people. A sort of supernanny of neurodivergence, there to help with what the family needs.

Fluent in American Sign Language, English, German, and Spanish, conversational in French and Italian, and learning Russian and Hebrew, Annie leverages her extensive studies and experience to teach foreign languages to children, teens, and adults around the world. She is particularly good at comparing grammar and pronunciation of various languages, using the student's mother tongue to assist with learning the target language. All lessons are completely customized to each student's needs, and neurodivergent individuals are encouraged to discuss their particular needs in terms of foreign language learning. High school students struggling to pass their foreign language course requirements are encouraged to see if Annie can help, even if foreign languages have been difficult in the past.

Annie also love Latin dance, especially salsa. For students learning Spanish with Annie, salsa lessons can be a great complement to the cultural studies. Dance students find Annie to be an extremely patient and positive teacher.

What Our Clients Are Saying

"Our lives have been profoundly changed for the better upon meeting and working with Anne. I got the distinct sense that she truly cared about children and was passionate about working with them. She addressed all of my concerns and pointed us in the right direction to optimize services our daughter would need. She worked with the recommendations provided by our developmental pediatrician and created a curriculum to improve our daughter's speech delay that each member of the household could perform. In just 3 months time, our daughter's speech dramatically improved and she became much more vocal and verbally interactive. Now, just barely 6 months after our first meeting with Annie, our daughter won't stop talking!"
