Our Story

Annie Hasting entered the field of speech-language pathology with the goal of helping people communicate better. After a decade of working for schools, early intervention, and rehab centers, she founded her own business for clinical and educational services. But what to call it? Nothing boring, for sure. The name needed to mean something and be easily remembered.

Jellyfish are simple, yet complex, just like speech disorders. They do not possess a central nervous system, yet somehow they have senses and are able to control their movement. They accomplish the improbable every day, just like Annie's clients.

Jellyfish are beautiful, and blue jellyfish are the most beautiful of all. They keep Annie in awe of the wonders of the earth.

Besides, "blue jellyfish" is just fun to say. Blue jellyfish. Blue
jellyfish.

About Annie

Annie Hasting is a speech-language pathologist holding national ASHA certification and Maryland licensure. After growing up in Washington, D.C., and southern Virginia, she attained her B.S. and M.S. from Brigham Young University. Annie's greatest joy is to help others, and helping children and families communicate better makes her life more meaningful.

Annie has well over a decade of experience working with children and adults who need assistance with improving communication. She has worked in early intervention with children birth-five, elementary school, middle and high school, and with adults in an acute neurological rehabilitation center. Annie has worked with individuals with many different speech and language disorders, including autism, apraxia, dysarthria, aphasia, learning disabilities, language delay/impairment, phonological disorders, articulation delay/disorder, stuttering, and chromosomal differences.

Fluent in American Sign Language and well versed in auditory-verbal therapeutic techniques, Annie enjoys working with deaf and hard or hearing children who use cochlear implants, hearing aids, or no hearing assistance.

Annie has a particular interest/expertise in helping children with severe speech sound disorders learn to speak intelligibly. She has taught workshops around the state of Maryland to assist other speech-language pathologists in working with severely unintelligible children.

Autism is another area of particular interest and expertise. Annie is certified in Hanen's More Than Words and TalkAbility programs; she also enjoys using strategies from Floortime/DIR. Annie's autistic clients have incredible outcomes.

What Our Clients Are Saying

"Our lives have been profoundly changed for the better upon meeting and working with Anne. I got the distinct sense that she truly cared about children and was passionate about working with them. She addressed all of my concerns and pointed us in the right direction to optimize services our daughter would need. She worked with the recommendations provided by our developmental pediatrician and created a curriculum to improve our daughter's speech delay that each member of the household could perform. In just 3 months time, our daughter's speech dramatically improved and she became much more vocal and verbally interactive. Now, just barely 6 months after our first meeting with Annie, our daughter won't stop talking!"
